First blogpost
The answer to the question “What are you going to be when you grow up?” has always been somewhat of a question mark for me. I have never had a clear vision about what I'm going to do next in life. But I’ve always known that I don’t want to just sit back and do nothing, I want to do something cool and interesting. I want to be successful in life. When I finished high school, I was quite lost because I didn’t know where to apply next. However, computers have always interested me and had a place in my heart. I was naturally good at solving problems with computers since I had spent a good amount of time with computers. I trusted my instincts and decided to apply for information processing at the university of Oulu. Now I’m 20 years old and a first-year student at the university of Oulu, studying information processing. So far it has been great, I’ve enjoyed the topics, and I feel like I am good at this. I still don’t have a clear vision about what I’m going to be doing in my future work life, but that doesn’t scare me. My instincts have already gotten me this far, so I'm sure that I will find a job in the future that is made just for me.
This blog is the place where I share my thoughts and all the new things that I've learned and will learn about in the future during my studies. Although I’m new to blogging, I believe that having this blog will benefit me in many ways. It can help me to learn more, connect with other people but most importantly help me achieve my goals. By telling my story and goals here, I can also inspire or help others to solve their problems. Surely having this blog will also help me improve my writing skills and my English skills in general. Why not set my first goal right away. My first goal could be to notice the difference in my English skills now and after I’ve finished my English courses this period. To be more specific, I'm going to try to learn three new words every day. That may not seem like a lot, but in the long term it adds up. That is 21 new words a week, and almost 100 words a month! Goals don’t have to be enormous, the main thing is to actually have goals. By setting this goal, I’m certain that I will notice an improvement in my language skills by the end of this period.
I can relate to not having a clear vision for the future. I knew I wanted to pursue this field but never had a specific profession in mind. It’s kind of nice though, because it gives you the freedom to explore different areas and see where your interests really lie.
VastaaPoistaReally like your attitude not stressing too much about what you need to do, but still working hard.
VastaaPoistaDon't worry about what's 200 meters away and a day later. This is a saying I like very much, in my opinion, enjoying the moment is the most important, because no one can predict what will happen in the next second. Thank you for your sharing about choosing this major, which also makes me further think about my view on it study. Good luck with your goal.
VastaaPoistaEmbracing uncertainty while trusting your instincts is a good approach to life. Setting consistent goals for language learning is beneficial, since progress comes from steady effort. Your enthusiasm for both your studies and self-improvement is great to see.
