Best piece of advice
During the recent years, I've heard a few pieces of advice that have affected the way I go about my daily life. I’d like to share these thoughts, because someone might find these tips helpful. You’ve all heard the question, what do you want to do with your life? Usually, people answer that they want to get a job that they like and that pays you well, maybe travel the world and enjoy things. These answers are solid, but the question can be taken a step further to give you a different kind of perspective.
Image a scenario where you win the lottery. Now you have unlimited money and can do everything you’ve ever dreamed of doing. Now imagine yourself 10 years after you have won the lottery. You have travelled every single place on earth that you ever wanted to visit, you’ve bought your dream cars and houses, you’ve acquired so many unique memories and experienced everything you ever wanted. Imagine there are no more places to travel, no more experiences to experience and no more things that money can buy. Now ask yourself again, what do you want to do with your life? Suddenly, the answer may be a whole lot different than before. Instead of wealth, travelling and luxury experiences, the answer is probably something more personal. Something that you are really good at, something that truly interests you and something that keeps you motivated - it is your passion.
Thinking about your future this way helps you to think what you really want to do in life, not just the materialistic things. Figure out what your passion is and aim towards it. Achieving your passion most likely doesn’t require unlimited money, so start fulfilling your passion today.
Another thing to keep in mind is that life is not that serious. I found out a long time ago to not stress about little things, such as exams, encountering difficulties or having a bad day. Of course make sure to carry out your duties, but don’t overload your mind with the thoughts. At the end of the day, failing at something doesn’t really matter. In fact, the majority of things in life are somewhat pointless, since you will forget about them in a year or two. So, in short, think about what your purpose really is and don’t let small pointless things slow you down or make you feel uncomfortable.
After all that I’d also like to update how I’m doing with my English learning goals. Previously I set a task to learn three new words per day, and it has gone well. Lately I’ve been using English more than usual, and I can already notice a slight improvement. I might increase the number of words to five words per day, to further improve my English skills.
A very deep and meaningful piece of advice. I really like your attitude. But think about winning the lottery from a different perspective. Winning the lottery would allow you not to worry about expenses, job etc. and instead focus on what really matters to you – your passion and other things that you truly want to do.
